The Lanes in Brighton.

The Lanes are a collection of narrow lanes in Brighton, in the city of Brighton and Hove famous for their small shops (including several antique shops) and narrow alleyways. The Lanes are commonly taken to be bounded by North Street to the north, Ship Street to the west and Prince Albert Street and the north side of Bartholomew Square to the south. The eastern boundary is less well-defined and can be considered either East Street or Market Street.

Siamo al 39 di Trafalgar street, e una gentilissima signora inglese ci accoglie nel suo magico negozio pieno di ceramiche e di colori per trascorrere un pomeriggio decisamente diverso, ci insegnerà a dipingere ceramiche bianche che una volta realizzate e messe in cottura diventeranno il nostro ricordo più caro di questo viaggio alla scoperta di Brighton, dalle mille sorprese.
We are at 39 Trafalgar Street, and a very nice English lady welcomes us into his magical store filled with pottery and colors to spend an afternoon decidedly different, will teach us to paint white ceramics that once made and put into baking will become our best memory than this voyage of discovery in Brighton, full of surprises.

A Brighton, in Bond street alle spalle del Royal Pavillon, potete scegliere di fermarvi da Catwalk Cakes per la pausa del tè e di sicuro rimarrete incantati davanti alla vetrina piena di torte e dolcetti. Ma al 24 di Duke street mi sono imbattuta in una pasticceria molto particolare, unica nel suo stile, dico sul serio… si chiama “Choccywoccydoodah“, un team di artisti, di designer e maestri del cioccolato sono specializzati e danno vita a decadenti torte nuziali, torte di compleanno e regali di cioccolato…
In Brighton, in Bond street behind the Royal Pavilion, you can choose to stop by Catwalk Cakes for tea break and for sure you will be stunned at the window full of cakes and treats. But at 24 Duke Street, I came across a bakery very special, unique in its style, I’m serious … is called Choccywoccydoodah, a team of artists, designers and masters of chocolate are specialized and give life to decadent wedding cakes, birthday cakes and chocolate gifts …

“Brighton è una città che ristora ed ispira come nessun’altra al mondo.” Così ho letto da qualche parte mentre cercavo di conoscere Brighton prima di raggiungerla, e non ci sono parole più azzeccate per una meta poco frequentata dagli italiani, ma in cui, almeno una volta nella vita, bisogna mettere piede per lasciarsi ispirare. Un passaggio obbligato alla scoperta di Brighton è il Pier, con le sue giostre e le sue bancarelle di zucchero filato, le sale giochi e il pontile di legno da cui arrivano gli schizzi delle onde del mare. Brighton è anche il quartiere delle Lanes, che un tempo era un villaggio di pescatori e oggi è un labirinto di stradine ricche di eleganti negozi, gallerie d’arte, ristoranti e caffetterie.
“Brighton is a city that refreshes and inspires like no other in the world.” So I read somewhere while I tried to Brighton to know before we get there, and there are no words the most successful models for a destination little frequented by Italians, but in which, at least once in your life, you have to visit to be inspired. A necessary step is to visit Brighton Pier with its rides and stalls selling candy floss, vintage games rooms and wooden jetty from which come the splashing of the waves. Brighton is also the neighborhood of the Lanes, which was once a fishing village and today is a maze of narrow streets lined with elegant shops, art galleries, restaurants and cafes.
